Your Community, Your Studio

Singing Lotus Yoga Studio has been a part of the Kingsway community since September 2001. From the beginning, it has been our intention to provide a place where people of all ages and levels of fitness, can practice yoga and pilates in a non-competitive and supportive environment while building community (sanga) with each other. This intention has fostered a community environment that has expanded beyond the practice of yoga and pilates. 

As a physical practice, both yoga and pilates contribute toward developing greater physical strength and flexibility. Each modality is unique in certain ways so here is a brief description about each:

  • Hatha Yoga is the physical foundation of all yoga practices encompassing a wide variety of asanas (postures) and styles or approaches to yoga. The teachers at Singing Lotus are trained in many varied schools of yoga and all classes incorporate posture flows with breath awareness and relaxation techniques. A regular practice can contribute toward greater flexibility, increased muscle and bone strength, injury prevention, improved sleeping patterns and can provide a foundation for managing stress, anxiety and depression. Through the physical practice of our asanas (postures) and awareness and attention to the breath, yoga provides a unique opportunity to directly work with our nervous system to improve overall body system functioning and to access our innate ability to manage our individual response to stressors in our lives. Yoga can contribute toward increased bone density levels as we age, as well as enhance spinal health and alignment.

  • Pilates is a physical practice and technique of aligning and toning the body in order to develop balanced physical strength and flexibility. The ultimate goal is to improve posture, endurance, control of movement, joint mobility, and economy of exertion. Pilates can be practiced simply on the mat, or with the use of props, to define and tone your body with an emphasis on spinal alignment and core strengthening.

  • Why Practice? We all have our reasons for Why we Practice. For some of us we use yoga and pilates as a great way to get in shape and stay in shape. For others we find our yoga practice to be a time / place where we can practice letting go of worry and stress, exploring a deeper place within us all. Whatever draws you to your practice is unique to you and here at Singing Lotus we try to accommodate and assist all students to find your own way 'into' your practice. How it unfolds, is entirely up to you!!

Studio open during class times (see class schedule) and by appointment only. 


Free parking is available directly behind the studio building. Additional metered parking is available on Dundas Street Mon to Fri 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. and all weekend. 

TTC Access:

The Junction 40 bus runs east and west on Dundas Street and stops directly in front of the studio. You can locate the Junction 40 at Dundas West station or Kipling station. Exit the bus at Prince Edward and Dundas. The studio is a 15 minute walk north of Royal York Subway Station.
